How this estimate works

Lenders limit how much of your income can go to EMIs. We assume 50% of your take-home pay can go to EMIs, 40% if you earn under ₹25,000 a month and 60% if you earn over ₹1 lakh. We subtract the EMIs you already pay. What is left is the most EMI a lender is likely to allow, and we work out the loan that EMI can repay at your rate and tenure.

An estimate is not an offer. Lenders decide using their own policy.

What can change the answer

  • Your credit score and repayment history. A higher score can mean a higher limit and a lower rate.
  • Your employer and how long you have worked there.
  • Other loans and credit-card dues.
  • The lender. Each has its own policy, so the same profile gets different answers.

Fixed obligations to income ratio: the share of your monthly income that goes to EMIs and other fixed payments. Lenders cap it, and that cap is the main limit on how much you can borrow.

Usually because of existing EMIs or a short tenure. Try a longer tenure, which lowers the EMI a loan needs, or see how much the estimate rises when you clear an existing loan.

No. It uses only the numbers you type, and nothing is sent to anyone until you choose to check offers.

Sometimes. Lenders weigh things this estimate cannot see, such as a strong credit score or a salary account with them. They can also offer less. The only reliable figure comes from an application.

Some lenders add a co-applicant's income, which can raise the amount. This calculator uses one income. An advisor can show you what a co-applicant would change.
